# Violet Benchmarks
### What are Violet Benchmarks?
Violet Benchmarks measure a provider’s ability to deliver personalized, effective care for specific patient populations. Each Benchmark reflects verified experience, training, and self-reported confidence in working with BIPOC, LGBQ, TGNC, Rural, Veteran, and Neurodivergent patients.
Your initial Benchmarks provide a snapshot of your current experience at the time you complete your profile. They’re dynamic and continue to evolve as you add new education, clinical experience, or training, whether completed through Violet or elsewhere, giving you and your organization a clearer picture of how your skills grow over time.
### How do health care organizations use Benchmarks?
Health care organizations use Violet Benchmarks to understand and strengthen how care is delivered across their provider networks. Common uses include:
- Measuring provider capability and diversity across different patient populations to support quality improvement and reporting.
- Improving visibility in directories and marketing materials, helping patients and members find providers whose experience aligns with their needs and identities.
- Identifying gaps in access and experience to guide targeted programs, partnerships with community-based organizations, and other initiatives that improve care delivery.
- Supporting value-based payment models that recognize and reward providers and organizations demonstrating high-quality, person-centered care.
Both organizations and providers can use Benchmarks as a roadmap for skill development and quality improvement, leveraging Violet’s tailored education to better serve BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ communities, disabled individuals, Veterans, Neurodivergent individuals, and more.
### How does benchmarking lead to improved quality of care?
Our extensive research, conducted in collaboration with partnering provider organizations and the Eidos LGBTQ+ Health Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania, revealed Violet Verified Providers observe several key improvements:
- Increased completion rates for wellness visits
- Higher patient adherence to scheduled appointments
- More frequent depression screenings and follow-up care
- Higher patient retention rates after one month of treatment
- Improved clinical outcomes, evidenced by reduced GAD-7/PHQ-9 scores and higher therapeutic alliance scores
This research demonstrates that higher Benchmark achievement is directly associated with measurable improvements in patient engagement, continuity, and clinical outcomes.
